As an executive producer, David Elisco manages the development and production of a portfolio of films, focusing on feature-length documentaries. In his work, Elisco is drawn to dramatic stories that touch the heart, inspire wonder, and provide new insights into life on Earth – and our place in it. Many of his projects showcase science as a powerful lens for making sense of the world and offer a window into the human spirit. For HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Elisco most recently executive-produced the feature documentaries “The Serengeti Rules,” and “Inventing Tomorrow,” and served as consulting producer to “The Farthest.”
In addition to his recent work in feature documentaries, Elisco oversaw the development and production of HHMI Tangled Bank Studios first projects, including the critically acclaimed three-part series, “Your Inner Fish,” the one-hour special, “Spillover: Zika, Ebola & Beyond,” and “Can Alzheimer’s Be Stopped?”
For much of his career, Elisco served as an award-wining writer, producer and director. As such he’s earned a reputation of being a filmmakers’ executive, who brings nearly 30 years of producing experience to the table. Before coming to HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Elisco was a vice president and series producer for Sea Studios Foundation where he produced the critically acclaimed and award-winning series, “National Geographic’s Strange Days on Planet Earth,” hosted by Academy Award nominee Edward Norton, and “The Shape of Life,” an eight-hour series chronicling the rise of the animal kingdom. His films and work have appeared on Netflix, Amazon Prime, PBS, National Geographic, Discovery, Smithsonian Channel and NBC.
