The series follows scientist-comedian Sophie Shrand as she drives an electric car on a coast-to-coast, 47 day round-trip journey from Los Angeles to Boston and back, celebrating moments of science and discovery along the way.

CHEVY CHASE, Md., September 10, 2026 – HHMI Tangled Bank Studios is proud to bring its latest short film Plant Life to The Explorers Club for a special New York City Climate Week screening event, in partnership with the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. On Tuesday, September 22, audiences will be treated to a viewing of the award-winning film Plant Life, followed by a presentation from the Salk Institute on the Harnessing Plants Initiative and the scientific breakthroughs achieved by Dr. Joanne Chory and her team.  

Boston, MA – September 8, 2026 – The award-winning PBS science series, NOVA, part of the GBH Documentary Unit, today announced THE BATTLE TO BREATHE, a NOVA Production by Wingspan Productions and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios for GBH will premiere Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 9pm ET/8c on PBS (check local listings) and stream at pbs.org/nova and the PBS App. The one-hour documentary chronicles the relentless quest that led to a recent breakthrough treatment for cystic fibrosis (CF), one of the most common fatal genetic diseases in the United States.
