VETERAN PRODUCER CHAD COHEN JOINS HHMI TANGLED BANK STUDIOS AS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION

CHEVY CHASE, Md., June 13, 2025 – Science-focused impact and production company HHMI Tangled Bank Studios announced today that Emmy Award-winning producer, writer, director, and showrunner Chad Cohen has been tapped as Executive Producer, Development and Production. Cohen will report to Jared Lipworth, Head of HHMI Tangled Bank Studios.

 In this new position, Cohen will lead development and supervise the production of genre-defining science media that fulfills the public engagement and science education mission of HHMI Tangled Bank Studios. He will work across multiple platforms, identifying new opportunities and overseeing content for shorts, documentaries, series, podcasts, social media, and games.

Cohen comes to HHMI Tangled Bank Studios from National Geographic where as executive producer, he oversaw unscripted series and specials for Disney+, Hulu and the National Geographic Channel, including the multi-Emmy winning and critically acclaimed series Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller and films like Titanic: The Digital Resurrection and Expedition Amazon.  In addition to his work for National Geographic, he’s created high end science content for PBS, Smithsonian and the Discovery Channel for over 20 years, on subjects ranging from the origins of humanity in Africa to the global energy crisis to the world’s biggest predatory dinosaur.  

His films have taken him around the world, from the ancient temples of Greece, Egypt, Turkey, and Japan, to the jungles of India, Africa and the Amazon, to the bottom of the ocean in Alaska, Iceland and Papua New Guinea.
